Checking it out!

I am purposely posting this picture of Boston because it to be an image used in my digital story. I want to be sure moving this image from one place to another will take place. So here goes!!!

I Can't Believe I Did it!

Completing this poster was very difficult for me, and I still will not believe I did it until I witness it on my blog!
I placed the grizzly bear in the poster because just before Chris dies, a huge grizzly bear passes right by him. It was like the bear knew that Chris smelled of death and posed no threat to him. I also put the wild sweet pea in the poster because that was ultimately what led to his demise. The mountains of Fairbanks Alaska are in the background as Through out the story Chris is determined to make his foot-long trek across the country from Virgiania to his "Alaskan Adventure." Of coarse, Chris is the maine character hiking in the photo.

I loved this move not only because it was a true story, but also because it portrays the drive, passion, and determination of people who follow their dreams....

An Image Displaying How I Am Feeling at This Moment!

I thought I understood how to create our poster for our next assignment because it looked so easy while Tim was doing it in class. This is the second time I have tried to sit down for many hours and complete this task. I am finding it very hard to do. I will give it another shot tonight and tomorrow night. But I must admit, I am a litter flustered right now. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Our Students Living in the Digital World

I find the Standards to be an excellent resource as well as being very helpful guide-lines when trying to incorporate technilogical lessons in the classroom. For me, the standards are a similar tool as the Maine Learning Results, when it comes to creating meaningful assessments and lesson plans.
The reality is that my future students are from the new digital, technilogical, and global world. Students need to learn the necessary skills for their future success, and I need to keep students engaged when implementing lessons. From the many ideas and lessons I was exposed to during my purusing of the NETS info, I found an abundance of great ideas to use in the classroom.
Epals sounds like a great "Brave New World" way of having students express their ideas and thoughts with epals from around the world. At the same time, students can learn much from communicating with people from different cultures. I believe that when a student is writing for an authentic audience then that student's writing will take on more meaning. Also having students journal on blogs and share information on blogging sites is a writing tool that can be utilized in a variety of ways that would hit on both the NETS and the MLRS.
It seems to me that along with podcasts, imovies, and digital presentations the possibilities are endless.
Yet a teacher has to know and understand how his or her students learn best in order to implement the most worthwhile technilogical lessons within the classroom. Much also has to do with a teacher's access to these tools. But the time for accomplishing these feats is now, as our students are living in the "New Digital World!"

Cross Country Skiing

Saturday afternoon was such a beautiful day, and I decided to finally give cross-country skiing a try. This is something I have wanted to try for a very long time. I absolutely loved it and wanted to ski down every trail available. Unfortunately, my twin boys felt just the opposite about our little adventure. But they still waited patiently for me as I completed the loop twice.

I guess some people are meant for down-hill skiing only, and others do not mind putting in a little more exercise into their skiing. I can't wait to go again, and I would love to go at night!

Another Blog!

Well this is really exciting to be making another post to my very own blog; however, I really do not have much to say. I did get a chance to substitute for a second-grade class today, and I had such a great time. These students were truly a delight to work with.

Well, until the next blog, this is deb signing or should I say I shoud say "blogging out!"

My Brave New World

I am startled that I am actually creating this blog
